Of the few schools around the area, many are not weatherproof, which means that of those fortunate to be able to go to school, many can't during the rainy season. We have many schools that are in urgent need of renovation. Materials such as cement, corrugated sheeting and wooden beems would enable us to re-roof schools. All of these materials are available in the Gambia, they just cost money. Even in the better equipped areas, many schools do not have toilet facilities. For a few hundred pounds we can have these constructed using local labour. All of the materials are purchased by our selves and we make regular visits to oversee the work being carried out on our behalf.
